5 tips & tricks for comparing flight schools

5 tips & tricks voor het vergelijken van vliegscholen

When considering starting to fly, or maybe switching flight schools, comparing the prices of different flight schools is an important part of your decision-making process. However, it is not always easy to compare the prices of different flight schools, as the rates are not always calculated in the same way and some costs are not always included. In this article, we provide 5 tips and tricks to pay attention to when comparing the prices of E-Flight Academy with those of other flight schools.

A fair total price
At E-Flight Academy we offer packages of 6 lessons and a theory package. This means that you can stop the training at any time without having invested a large amount beforehand.

We still find it important to mention a fair total price for your entire PPL license. That's why we maintain a total price of €18,965 on our website. This total price includes 45 pure flying hours (which is about 55 hours of flight time in your logbook), 155 landings, theory exams, and an R/T training and exam. The LPE exam (online English language test) is also included in our theory package. Retakes for theory exams, medical examinations, and practical exams are not included. All information about our complete package can be found here

2. Landing fees
When comparing prices of different flight schools, it is important to look at which costs are included. Otherwise, you are comparing apples to oranges. For many flight schools, for example, landing fees (or even fuel and instruction) are not included. During your training, you make quite a lot of landings, so this is an important cost item. At E-Flight Academy, there are 155 landings included in your package, so you don't have to pay for your landings after each lesson. Personally, we also don't think that's a very nice way to end your lesson :)

Type airplane
It is also important to look at the differences between the aircraft used in training. At E-Flight Academy, we use a brand new fleet of electric airplanes. These are much quieter and emission-free, which can be an important argument for some people. Flight lessons without flight shame!

After completing the training, it is also good to know which costs will still come up. After obtaining your PPL at E-Flight Academy, you will have a license for both single engine piston and electric flying. This is unique in the Netherlands! If you want to fly electrically at another flight school after obtaining a PPL, an E-conversion costing €1800,- is required.

5. Extra features
Furthermore, it is also important to look at any additional benefits that a flight school offers. For example, at E-Flight Academy, we work with a digital syllabus and online environment for booking lessons and tracking your progress. We also have a super realistic simulator with which we can simulate various situations at a high level. This can help make you an even better pilot. And it's also a lot of fun to do!

Take one trial lesson
In short, if you want to compare (the prices of) different flight schools, it is important to look at which costs are included, which aircraft are used, and which additional benefits the flight school offers.

But the most important thing is of course whether there is a good match between you and your future flight school. A good way to find out is to come by in person to get a feel for the atmosphere. If you also take a trial lesson, you will have an even better idea to make your choice. And at E-Flight Academy, this trial lesson also counts as an official lesson, so in principle you can continue with your license right away!

Come by sometime!
